Oscars 2022: Academy unveils shortlist in 10 categories


Surprisingly, the most globally coveted award category- Best International Feature which joins the shortlist, spots no African countries, a first in a number of years since the global category launched.

Recall that Nigeria withdrew from the IFF race this year after the Nigerian committee announced that no submission met the Academy’s criteria. Last year, the committee submitted Desmond Obviagele’s ‘The Milkmaid’. However, the feature film did not make the category’s shortlist.
